Naren Young

Naren Young has been hooked on cocktails since he first saw the film Cocktail in 1992.  He kicked off his career working in noteworthy bars around Sydney, Australia, including The Monkey Bar, Grand Pacific Blue Room, Middle Bar, Lotus, and Bayswater Brasserie, which was recognized as the 4th “Best Bar In The World” by Drinks International magazine.

After gaining overseas experience in London, Young set his sights on New York City and quickly landed jobs at high-profile restaurants such as PUBLIC, Pravda, Bar Marché, La Esquina, Pegu Club and Bobo. In October 2009, Young was tasked with creating the cocktail program at Locanda Verde, and in 2011, Andrew Carmellini’s most recent venture, The Dutch.  In September of 2011, Young rejoined executive chef Brad Farmerie and AvroKO Hospitality Group to open Saxon + Parole, where he has achieved national recognition for his updated riffs on classic cocktails.

Among his many accolades, Young was crowned World Cocktail Master at the Bols International Cocktail Competition. Young appeared on the Martha Stewart show,  is the co-founder of Australian Bartender Magazine and an acclaimed journalist who has written for many publications including Edible Manhattan, Beverage Media, Tasting Panel, Manhattan and GQ Australia.
